Stewart County is the southern gateway to the Land Between the Lakes, a vast recreational area for all kinds of outdoor recreation opportunities, including hiking, biking, hunting and other sports as well. And, the Homeplace, an 1850 living history farm, the Nature Station, and the Elk and Bison Prairie are waiting for you here!

The City of Dover is the site of Ft. Donelson National Battlefield, where the defeat of the Confederate army lead directly to the fall of Nashville and Clarksville during the Civil War. Visit the other Civil War sites including the Dover Hotel or Surrender House where Confederate General Simon Buckner entered into “Unconditional Surrender” to General Ulysses S. Grant. Ft. Donelson National Cemetery is located near the battlefield.
